The Others

Friday September 10 6-10pm. Cost $5.

Join us for The Others! An interchurch game night here at GPC. Come hang out during this awesome night of fellowship as we play some of the worlds greatest games with Jr Highers from other local youth groups! From wii to monopoly, basketball to uno, xbox to capture the flag, we got it all!

Hot chocolate, soda, pizza, friends! What more could you ask for! See you here!

Back To School, Back to School, OH NO!

School is just around the corner, and for some of you (our Santa Fe friends) you have already rounded that corner! But school does not have to stop the awesome time we have here at Impact. Next Wednesday we will be meeting here at church from 6-7:30 for S'MORE SUMMER NIGHTS! That's right we want S'MORE summer, S'MORE fun, S'MORE fellowship, S'MORE worship and of course S'MORE S'MOREs! Meet at the church for a night of memories, laughter, S'MOREs and worship around the fire.

This summer has also been an amazing time of transformation for many of our students. To celebrate that time we will be holding our annual end of summer baptism at Mission Bay on Sunday August 29 after church.

Join us on Wednesday August 18 from 6-8pm in the jr high room as we watch Alice in Wonderland! Popcorn, hot chocolate, candy, ice cream are all provided and this event is FREE! Be sure to bring a friend! We look forward to seeing you here!

Coaster To Carrier

Don't Forget! This Saturday
When: June 12 8:30am-3:45pm
Where: Solana Beach Train Station to USS Midway
Who: New 7th Graders Only
Cost: $20 (and money for lunch)

Join us on June 12 for our second annual Coast to Carrier 7th Grade Kick Off Event. Meet at the Solana Beach Train Station at 8:30am (train leaves at 8:53 so don’t be late!)
We will take the Coaster to Downtown, Santa Fe Depot, and walk to the USS Midway. We will tour the USS Midway as a group exploring all the nooks and crannies of the carrier.
We will then walk to Sea Port Village to eat lunch together and enjoy the beautiful San Diego outdoors. We will return to the Solana Beach Train Station at 3:45pm.

8th Grader DInner and Movie June 6 after church

It seems like just yesterday that you stepped foot in the Jr High room with the deer in the headlights look on your face. Well, you still look funny, but you are now almost officially done with JR HIGH! To celebrate this joyous and wonderful two years we have had we will be going to DINNER AND A MOVIE!

After church we will drive down to Bucca di Beppo's in Mira Mesa for a feast of epic proportions where we will share food, memories and great laughs. After we have satisfied our appetites we will see Shrek Forever After in 3D! We will return to the church around 5pm. Cost is $20! Sorry but this event is for 8th graders only!

Boys Will Be Boys and Girl Just Want To Have Fun

Guy Girl Night is just around the corner!

Guys meet at the church at 5pm sharp as we prepare for a night of laser tag. We will return to the church at 7pm and BBQ until 8pm.

Girls meet at Samantha Bergstrom's house at 5pm for a night of movies, manicures, pedicures, and of course FONDUE! Pick up is at 8pm at the Bergstrom's.

The day we have all been waiting for! Parent vs Student broomball this Saturday April17, 2010 from 9pm-midnight! Meet at GPC at 9pm and bring a pizza for your family. After dinner we will head down to UTC for a massive game of broomball. Students if your parents can not make it you are still welcome to come! Oh yeah hey....don't forget to bring friends! This event is FREE

Oh The Places We Will Go!

Well the sun has finally peeked it's head around the corner and longer days and warmer weather are hopefully here to stay. With Easter just days away it seems like before too long summer will kick in and the break our kids yearn for will be here. But before summer kicks off we have some great activities going on this spring!

Parent vs Student Broomball Night! Saturday April 17 9pm-Midnight!

Meet at the church at 9pm and bring your family's favorite pizza! We will have a community style pizza party then head over to the UTC Mall for a massive game of broomball! Perhaps this game would be a great way to get those unfinished chores done or perhaps a way out of those chores for the next month! Parents vs Students... lets see who is really in charge! Did I mention it's FREE!


Don't forget that Hume Lake is July 11-17 and sign ups have started! Spots are limited so be sure to sign up soon!

Wednesday Disney Night Recap

Our Wednesday Disney night was a blast! There were some great costumes and many laughs over pop corn, candy, hot chocolate, and Finding Nemo! Kristin won our costume contest with an excellent Mini Mouse get up. We leave for disneyland this Saturday! We still have a few spots available, but act quickly as they are sure to fill up quick. Cost is $60 and students are responsible for their own meals and souvenirs. We will meet at the church at 8am and return by 10pm. Please email steven to sign up!

Wednesday Night Recap and Disneyland Week

Tonight was a wonderful night of worship, reflection on God's word, artistic expression, and encouraging words from an old friend. Leo Rapini stopped by to say hello and share what God has been teaching him in Santa Ana over the last few months. He shared his experiences in working with the homeless and told us the story of some of his colleagues who spent three days living with a homeless woman they had befriended. After the three days his colleagues explained that the hardest part of the experience was not what one would expect. While the discomfort of living without a home, money, or food is stressful it was the neglect that was the most painful. Having people completely ignore you was the most dehumanizing part of the process.

After Leo shared we studied Psalm 139. We each individually read the chapter and reflected on how God never neglects, ignores, or looks past us. We then spent some time in prayer and students were able to express what they had learned from Psalm 139 through painting.

Next Wednesday is an extra special night! In honor of our upcoming disneyland trip on Saturday February 20, we will be holding disney night and you can determine the outcome of the night. Comment on this post with your favorite disney movie and the movie with the most votes will be played on Wednesday. But wait there is more! Come dressed as your favorite disney character! There will be prizes for best costume!

Don't forget to sign up for Disneyland. Saturday February 20. 8am-10pm. $60. Students are responsible for their own meals and souvenirs! Spots are filling up quick!

Frenetic February

We have a busy month this February. Starting Sunday February 7 we will begin our Sunday morning Collide Study! We will be going through Creative Times with God: Discovering New Ways to Connect with the SAVIOR. We will meet in the JR High room on Sundays from 9am-10am. Cost of the book is $10 (even if you can't make Collide this is a great book to have!)
This session will be a little different then the last. Our previous study through Case for Christ really pushed students to analyze the facts and information about Jesus. This study will focus on what Jesus has taught them and what they are learning from scripture. Hope you can join us for this awesome time of prayer, community, fellowship, and study of God's word!

On Monday February 8 we will be handing out care kits to the homeless at the Salvation Army. Back in October we raised almost $700 at our Bake Sale and now we are finally using that money to make an IMPACT! Meet at the church at 5:15 and we will drive down to the salvation army together. We will return to the church by 8:30 please email me to sign up as we have a limited number of seats available!


Last, but certainly not least is our annual Disneyland Trip on Saturday February 20! We hope you can join us for this amazing full day of fun and fellowship! Cost is $60. Wednesday Night Recap

Impact was small but awesome last night with many students out on account of finals. We had a great time of worship and studied Matthew 12:46-50 in context of Switchfoots song "Enough to Let Me Go." Listen to the song and let us know what you think its about and what it means for you!

Salvation Army and Disneyland

Hey everyone we have some great events coming up in February!

On Monday February 8 we will be serving the homeless of San Diego at the Salvation Army. We will bring toiletry kits that we have purchased and assembled with money from our bake sale. Meet at the church at 5:15 and we will drive down together in the vans. We will return to the church by 8:30. Sign up as spots are limited!

On Saturday February 20 we will be going to Disneyland! Cost is $60 and spots are LIMITED! Sign up today to reserve your spot. We will meet at the church at 8am and return by 10pm. Students are responsible for their own meals and souvenirs.

Jr High is a bustling journey of new experiences, great (and not so great) memories, and changes. As life seems to move faster and faster these days we desire to provide a place where students can truly be themselves. We exist to provide an environment for Jr Highers to experience the love and grace of Christ. We are here to partner with parents to help students as they develop physically, emotionally, and spiritually. It is our prayer that during this time of identity formation and maturation that students would find their identity, hope, and source of life in the creator of our souls, Jesus Christ.
